Vietnamese spring roll are made of rice noodles, shrimp, and fresh herbs in a rice paper wrapper. I believe the dipping sauce is a peanut hoisin sauce. This type of spring roll is not fried it is more of a soft sticky texture. Also, it is served cold. The roll itself is pretty bland but the sauce is tasty.

The Thai Tea was very good and freshly made by the owner. Thai Tea is a black tea with cream and sugar. Shockingly, you get FREE REFILLS of Thai Tea. They even gave me a to-go cup! This is an amazing deal so I would recommend getting it.
Round Steak and Beef Meatball Pho

Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup with rice noodles and onions in a hearty pho broth. The protein I ordered was the round steak and beef meatball. Several garnishes are served on the side including fresh bean sprouts, jalapenos, Thai basil and lime. I thought their broth was great! It was very warms, flavorful, and comforting. Also, I thought the round steak was really good, but the meatballs were just OKAY. I added all the garnishes and a little siracha and enjoyed the completed dish. Lastly, watch out for the sizes. There are three sizes available: appetizer, small, and large. I ordered the small and it was huge so it should be more than enough for most people. Overall, I think their pho is a great compromise between comfort food and healthy eating.

Also, they have several appetizer options including a hands-on, roll your own spring roll option. Additionally, there are a variety of rice bowls available. Overall, I enjoyed all of my food at Pho 79 and I was blown away by the free refills of Thai Tea.

The service at Pho 79 was very good. They were very friendly and attentive. Also, they brought out the food and drinks quickly and correctly. Also, the woman in charge came by a few times to ask about our meal and if I enjoyed my Thai Tea and wanted a refill. Speaking with them you could tell they took a lot of pride in their food.

The layout of Pho 79 is open and spacious with a variety of booths and tables. The décor has Asian influence with lanterns and artwork. I noticed the lighting in the restaurant is quite dim, which might be nice for a date but it’s a little odd at lunchtime. The restrooms available are quite nice and clean.

Pho 79 in Chesapeake, VA is located in the Sam’s Circle shopping center. It is a pretty good location because it is close to many shops, restaurants, hotels, and main roads. They also have ample parking available. It is not walkable though, so I suggest driving.

I think Pho 79 is a great value for your money. The free refills on Thai Tea alone are such a steal. Not to mention, the pho serving sizes are massive and very filling. You get a great bang for your buck.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed my meal at Pho 79 in Chesapeake, VA. They offer a wide variety of pho at reasonable prices. All the food was good and the service was great. Honestly, as a tea lover I would go back just for the Thai Tea free refills! Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for pho in Hampton Roads.
