Summary

The Olde Pink House in Savannah, GA is a lovely fine dining restaurant serving elevated southern cuisine in a gorgeous historic home. Going in I was concerned that the Olde Pink House was over-hyped in travel guides and may not live up to its reputation. But they completely surpassed my expectations! During my visit I tried the biscuits, fried green tomato appetizer, fried pork chop dinner, and the peanut butter mousse bomb dessert.

What I Ordered

Biscuits

free

A basket of complimentary biscuits was brought to the table. I think these may have been the best biscuits I have had to date. They were war, soft, and buttery and served with whipped butter.

Fried Green Tomatoes

5/5

$12

If you order the fried green tomato appetizer for two each person gets one fried green tomato. It consists of a fried green tomato with a bacon and cabbage slaw served on a bed of creamed corn. This was an extremely well crafted dish. It has a splendid balance of flavors and textures. The tomato had a delicious, flavorful batter that was perfectly fried to add a crispy texture. Additionally, the tomato itself was perfectly ripe, so it had a savory sweetness. The corn was lovely saucy, sweet, and creamy element. Lastly the slaw added a nice acidity and savoriness to the dish and more interesting textures.

Fried Pork Chop

3.5/5

$36.95

I ordered the fried pork shop dinner with mac and cheese and a twice baked potato sides. The pork chop was absolutely massive and I couldn’t finish the whole thing.  It had a very nicely seasoned breading that was like a fried chicken breading. I think that the gravy added a much needed moisture to the pork chop but I was not very impressed by the gravy (it was pretty average). The mac and cheese was a tasty baked mac with a great cheese crust on top. The serving was large and very creamy and cheesy. The twice baked potato had a light but complex depth of flavor with sour cream, chives, butter, and cheese.

Peanut Butter Mousse Bomb

4/5

$10.95

The peanut butter mousse bomb was served with a whipped cream and golden sugar work decorations.  The serving size was quite large with very attractive presentation. I found this dessert to be extremely rich, so I don’t think one person could tackle it on their own after a meal, but it was a good size to share.  It may be good paired with a coffee.

Overall Atmosphere

5/5

The atmosphere at Olde Pink House is quite spectacular. The restaurant is in a historic home from the late 1700s. The main floor houses the bar seating area, restrooms, host area and waiting area. The main formal dining rooms are upstairs in the home. They have stairs as well as an elevator available. We were seated in the ballroom which had beautiful functioning dual fireplaces, crystal chandeliers, mirrors, murals, molding, and opulent furnishings. It is a formal fine dining restaurant, but I did notice quite a few people dressed casually, so the dress code seems to be relaxed. The overall experience is very classy, sophisticated, and luxurious.
