¼ Chicken – Breast Meal

This chicken meal came with the PERi-PERi chicken and two side dishes. I chose the “Medium” heat level. The chicken was nicely cooked and moist. The seasoning was nice but I was surprised how subtle the taste was and it wasn’t really spicy at all. I tried two of the dipping sauces available: lemon & herb, and garlic. I was underwhelmed by the garlic sauce overall flavor but I though the lemon and herb sauce was delightful. It added a really nice citrusy acidity and some extra flavor to the meal. Overall, I though the chicken was good but it was as unique and interesting as it seemed like it should be.
Golden Cauliflower Side

This side was very interesting. I thought it was very good. It was roasted cauliflower and assorted seed with a sweet chili sauce. It could have used more of the sauce. Overall, I thought the different textures with the crunch of the seeds and the flavor of the sauce was quite nice.
Side Salad
The side salad was OK. It was mixed green with an Italian dressing. It was very simple and had no toppings. I did think it was a decent size. Considering it is a side option at no extra charge I think it was a reasonably simple salad.

Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Nando’s. Everything was cooked well and the flavors were good. Though I think they really boast their unique strong flavors and they should kick it up a notch to meat that expectation. They do have good flavors and textures.
Service
The service at Nando’s is fairly limited. When you are sat you get silverware and menus. You order on your phone or at a register with your table number. Then staff bring out your food to your table. It was a bit strange to me that you had to go get your own water, glasses, and sauces. The staff were alright but it did take quite a while to receive anything and the dishes did not come out together.

Who Goes Here?
There were many families and groups of friends dining at Nando’s. It would also be a good place to go on a nice date without breaking the bank.
Overall Atmosphere
The atmosphere at Nando’s is classy, clean, and new. It is sort of a dressy casual setting. They use fun bold colors and modern décor but maintain a level of comfort with their furniture choices. The patio has nice string lighting through the trees to add light and ambience. The outdoor seating also looks out on the fountain plaza in town center which is quite scenic and can have live musical performances. We were lucky to get to listen to a live Frank Sinatra tribute singer during our meal which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Nando’s Chicken is located in the fountain plaza of Virginia Beach Town Center in Virginia Beach, VA. There is a free parking garage available a block away. It is a very good location near a lot of other shops and restaurant.

I think the Nando’s gives good value for your money. The prices are quite low considering the quality of the food, setting, and location. It is a great deal!

Overall, Nando’s is a great place to grab a bite of chicken in Virginia Beach Town Center. They have low pricing with very good food. The service is unimpressive, but the atmosphere is lovely. It would be a great place to stop before or after a night downtown.
