Side Salad
The side salad was a generous portion size. It was iceberg lettuce, cheese, tomato, cucumber, onion and croutons served with a breadstick and choice of salad dressing. I though there were plenty of the topping and enough dressing for the salad. The croutons were a nice house crouton. The breadstick was a pleasant surprise. It was the perfect size, warm, and soft. It tasted very similar to Olive Garden’s Breadsticks.
Old School Shrimp Platter

The shrimp platter included twelve large butterflied shrimp, served with fries and coleslaw. The shrimp were simple but tasty. They were very plump and juicy shrimps. The breading was nicely crisp. The fries were OK; very normal but nicely crisp. The coleslaw did not impress me. It lacked seasoning and was very sweet. Overall, it was a nice meal but very normal.

Marzoni’s seamed to have a classic American menu that was very traditional. Moreover, the food was quite tasty and I was pleased with the serving sizes.
Service
The service at Marzoni’s was great. I was sat and given my water quickly. The waitress I had was very nice and friendly as well as efficient. She checked back periodically to see if I need anything as well. My food was all brough out accurately.

A wide variety of people go to Marzoni’s. It was predominantly families but there were many individuals and groups of friends near the bar.
Overall Atmosphere
Marzoni’s is very clean and well kept. It has a completely casual comfortable atmosphere. It is large and spacious but has country décor and wood furniture that make it cozier. There are TV’s displaying sports channels around the bar area. The one unusual décor item is in the entry room to the restaurant. There is a very cool antique car and some historic items for people to look at as they wait.

Marzoni’s is in the outskirts of Altoona, PA. It is a large stand alone business with ample parking available. It is not close to many other shopping areas or activities.

Value for money
I though the serving sizes were good at Marzoni’s. Though the prices were on the medium high side. Also, the food quality was good but not particularly impressive. Overall, I think it was a reasonable value for your money.

I would recommend Marzoni’s to someone who’s “not in the mood for anything fancy.” I think it would be a good place to grab a drink and some food at the bar. Additionally, it is a good place to go get simple Italian -American food with your family in a casual atmosphere.
