Hotel Greene - Richmond, VA

The Hotel Greene in Richmond, VA is a unique hotel themed indoor mini golf course and cocktail lounge. They offer a full bar and light fare in a 1920s atmosphere. During my visit I tried the Sunday brunch special which included breakfast and a round of mini golf.

Quality of Entertainment

3.5/5

Hotel Green is a quirky mini golf course in Richmond, VA. Groups of 4 or less can enter one at a time and go through the 13 hole course. The mini golf course is hotel themed. You work your way through the lobby, hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, and recreational facilities of a hotel throughout the course. The holes have a fun variety of challenges with obstructions and blind corners. There is even a unique hole that incorporates hitting a ball onto and rolling through a billiard table. Additionally, if you get a hole in one on the last hole you can win a t-shirt.

My only complaint was that the groups sometimes got backed up and there often wasn’t a place to stand and wait out of the way. They did have shelves and furniture incorporated into each area for people to place their drinks while they play. Overall, I thought the course was a fun and low-key activity.

Venue

Hotel Greene is designed to look like a hotel from the 1920s. It is a quirky and eclectic space with a lot of glamorous elements like golden molding, paintings, mirrors, furniture and carpets to evoke the period theme. When you enter you are in the lobby and cocktail lounge of the mock hotel. You check in at the front desk to be seated and get on the list mini golf. There is a glamorous full bar available and some tables to eat and drink at while you wait.

The course is a full loop starting and ending to the left of the front desk. When you are done you pay at the front desk. I loved that they give each person a custom postcard illustrated by local artist, Leslie Herman. Each post card is different with a signature look and they have special winter ones around Christmas time. Additionally, the score cards are luggage tags. I loved the attention to detail and felt like these take home souvenirs really make it a more memorable experience.

Organization & Cleanliness

I thought Hotel Greene was fairly well organized. You wait in the cocktail lounge area until your group is ready. Then they come and get you and explain the course and provide your equipment. I do think the restrooms should be marked better because they are tucked back in the middle of the course. Also, it would be nice if there was more space to wait out of the way. Additionally, it seemed everything was well cared for but it did seem a bit shabby and well loved.

Refreshments

Hotel Greene offers refreshments during your visit. Their main focus is a cocktail lounge with a mini golf course. However, they do have food offerings. On week nights they have a menu of appetizers and light fare like sandwiches. Saturday and Sunday mornings they sport a special brunch menu which includes breakfast sandwiches, breakfast bowls, and French toast. The brunch deal includes 1 entrée, tea or coffee, and a round of mini golf for $25. I visited during brunch and got the Eggs on the Greene meal with English Breakfast Tea: eggs with ham and cheddar, breakfast potatoes, and a fruit cup. The food is pretty average, but considering they are not a full-service restaurant and the reasonable brunch price I think it is a good value.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience at Hotel Greene. It has a really unique fabulous ambience that can easily fit into a fun group outing or a romantic date. Additionally, the food and drink offerings were pretty good.  I do think the furnishings/ course could use a little freshening up, but I like the overall feel.
