What I Ordered
Fried Goat Cheese Balls
$10.75
The Goat Cheese Balls appetizer consists of large balls of goat cheese breaded and deep fried. They are drizzles with a balsamic glaze and paired with a sweet chili sauce. The serving size is very large. I thought this appetizer was delicious! Chrisp on the outside soft on the inside. The only thing that would have made it a 10 would be a better dipping sauce. The chili sauce was nice but it didn’t compliment the goat cheese that well. Maybe something punchy like a chipotle ranch would have been better. Overall, they were savory, tangy, and cheesy, with great texture.
The Angry Avocado
$10.25
The angry avocado is a Texas toast sandwich with fried green tomatoes, bacon, pimento cheese, guacamole, and lettuce with a side salad. It was a southern spin on a BLT. This sandwich is a great deal for the price with a huge serving size. The Texas toast held up really well against the wet ingredients. It didn’t get soggy at all! The ingredients worked together very well. The bacon and fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly, nice and crispy. The guacamole was really the start= of the show with great seasoning and peppers and jazzed it up.
The side salad was a great size for a side and had a nice variety of toppings: greens, cucumber, radishes, tomatoes, mushrooms, and ranch. Overall, I really enjoyed the side salad.
Cupid Beer
$6.75
The cupid beer was a strawberry sour beer. It has lactose which adds a creaminess. This beer was very punchy and tart with a bright red color. I enjoyed it but I don’t think that I could drink multiple glasses. Because it was so punchy it paired well with the savory fried food.
Overall Food
Overall, I enjoyed the food at Hops Burger Bar. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were well crafted. The menu includes a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and bar food as well as craft beers. I think the dishes had the hearty, savoriness of classic bar food but took it to a more elevated level with southern flare and unique flavor combinations.
Service
I though the service at Hops Burger Bar was very good. They sat me quickly and brought out food and drinks quickly. The servers were very friendly and efficient.

Size
There are about 10 tables inside and 5 outside.
Who Goes Here?
Mostly friends getting together for a drink and couples.
Overall Atmosphere
Hops Burger Bar has a very small tight dining area with a bar atmosphere. Because it is small its not a place to linger and talk a long time. They have pretty limited décor, just the drink menus in chalkboards and the taps at the bar.
Location
Hops Burger Bar is in Greensboro, NC. There a few other restaurants nearby but nothing much in walking distance. The parking is very limited and tight. I had to park along the street about a block behind the restaurant.
