What I Ordered
Srawberries & Cream Donut
$5.50
The Strawberries and Cream donut was a plain donut loaded up with whipped cream frosting and fresh sliced strawberries. It was served in a little to go contained when ordered individually and it was so big it took up the whole container. Also, I thought the presentation was very attractive and looked like a strawberry flower. I thought the overall flavor was just like strawberry shortcake with the donut acting as the shortcake. This donut was light and creamy.
Lil Debbie Fudge Round Donut
$5
The Lil Debbie Fudge Round Donut was honestly mind blowing. It was a plain donut loaded up with chocolate whipped cream frosting, chocolate cooking crumbs, and chocolate drizzle topped off with an entire fudge round cookie. I thought the presentation was very impressive and attractive and the serving size was huge. Moreover, I was particularly impressed that they perfectly matched the flavor of the chocolate whipped cream icing with the filing of a fudge round so it really tasting exactly like it. Even though it was quite decadent and sweet it was not as heavy as you would think. I really enjoyed this one.
Overall Food
Overall, I was impressed with the donuts at Home Run Donuts in Hagerstown. They were delicious and beautiful. However, they are massive! I would guess about 2-3 times the size of a normal donut, so I would suggest only ordering one per person or sharing, to be able to try multiple kinds. It was fun to try such an extravagant donut. You can order donuts individually or you can get them in dozens. The fancy donuts are pricier ($4-6) while the basic glazed and dipped offerings are about $2. Also, one thing to note is that they only sell donuts, no coffee or drinks so I would plan on grabbing the donuts to go and going home or elsewhere to have them with coffee.
Service
The service at Home Run Donuts is very good but simple. They take cash and card. The hand written menu of the day is hung to the side of the window. There is one person at the window taking orders, running the cash register, and giving you your donuts once they have been boxed up. Really you only interact with one person but they were very friendly and efficient. You get your donuts right away with no wait.

Size
This is a small outdoor stall with no tables.
Who Goes Here?
A wide variety of people stop and get donuts on the way to work.
Overall Atmosphere
In contrast to their extravagant gourmet donuts, Home Run Donuts runs out of a simple food truck trailer. They are only open two mornings per week: Wednesday and Friday 5AM-Noon. The trailer has a little shelter attached to it to keep people in line out of the rain. They do not have any tables but there are some benches for people waiting in line. I noticed there were cute little decorations hung form the shelter to liven it up a bit. The lot is quite small so the expectation is that you grab your donuts and go elsewhere to eat them. Overall, I thought it was a pleasant experience but they basically don’t have dining available.
Location
Home Run Donuts in Hagerstown, MD is a bit off the beaten path. It is not that far from the interstate but it’s found in a gravel lot near a residential area outside of town. There are not other shops or restaurants nearby. The gravel lot is pretty small and spaces are not marked, so you just pull up grab your donuts and go. There is a Sheetz gas station about a block down that I would suggest parking at and grabbing a coffee or tea to enjoy your breakfast.

Value for money
I think that Home Run Donuts offers a fair value for your money. I think the food quality and presentation are extraordinary and fairly priced. I do think they would benefit from a small beverage selection of coffee and tea. Also, they could benefit from a small dining section. It could even be simple picnic tables like you see at an ice cream parlor. On the whole, I think their food is good but the atmosphere could use some improvement.
Overall
Overall, Home Run Doughnuts in Hagerstown, MD offers tasty extravagant doughnuts that I enjoyed trying. However, it is a very simple, rustic experience with no dining area. I would recommend trying Home Run if you are in Hagerstown on a Wednesday or Friday, but plan on taking them to-go.
