What I Ordered
Pot of Paris Tea
$7
The Paris Tea is a lovely black tea with red current and honey. It had a lovely round and fruity flavor with a light sweetness. The pot of tea includes enough for two people to have 2-3 cups of tea. The tea is loose leaf in the pot and a tea strainer is provided for pouring the tea as well as a pitcher of honey.
Tea Sweets
$9
The Tea Sweets are an assortment of miniature desserts. The types of desserts are seasonal and change throughout the week. During my visit they were primarily pumpkin spice and chocolate. They are all small enough to eat in one or two bites. The pumpkin cream puff tasted just like a pumpkin pie. Also, my favorite was the chocolate cream pie which was very creamy with a crispy crust.
Scones with Cream & Jam
$9
The scones are served with Devonshire cream and a raspberry jam. Devonshire cream is a thick buttery, cheesy sweet spreadable cream. I though the scones were very tasty moist and flaky orange scones.
Overall Food
The Gryphon Tea Room menu includes an afternoon tea menu, lunch, brunch, and dessert. I really enjoyed all of the afternoon tea items we tried. The serving sizes and quality of food and tea were very good. Overall, it is a great place to get light fare, such as lunch, snacks and sweets.

Additionally, they help to set up and initially pour your tea.

Who Goes Here?
It looked like a variety of people go to the tea room from groups of friends, couples on dates, and individuals working or reading.
Overall Atmosphere
The Gryphon Tea Room is stunning. The building is historic with ornate stained glass, woodwork, molding, and details. It was once a pharmacy and they have maintained many of the original features. Additionally, a gryphon was the family crest of the original family that owned the pharmacy so there are many gryphon details in the décor, including the first electric clock in Savannah, light fixtures, and the name Gryphon Tea Room. It is an extremely opulent and classy spot with rich textiles, wood, and furnishings. Though it would be a fun place to dress up, the overall ambience and clientele were pretty casual. It could easily be a place to go for a special occasion or a pleasant comfortable spot to read or chat.
Location
The Gryphon Tea Room is in one of the historic squares of downtown Savannah, GA. There is not much parking available, but it is a very walkable area with a free trolley available. There are many historic homes, shops, and restaurants nearby. Also, it is located near one of the most scenic historic streets in Savannah called Jones Street.
