What I Ordered

Wood Fire Meatballs

3.5/5

$12

The meatball appetizer consisted of four large meatballs in marinara sauce in a little skillet with a side of toasted bread. The meatballs were large and tasty. The seasoning was not anything special but the sauce was pleasant.

Fried Catfish Sandwich & Fries

3/5

$13

The fried catfish sandwich was fried catfish, tartar sauce, lettuce, pickle, and tomato on a brioche bun. This sandwich is very large. I found that the catfish was well fired and crisp, but it had a lot of thick breading on it that really lacked flavor. Additionally, it could have used a lot more sauce and pickles. It was a pleasant sandwich but on the dry side and rather bland. On the other hand, the Nashville fires were quite good. The seasoning added a lot of flavor but was not spicy. Also, the fries were nice and crispy. Overall, the catfish sandwich was a decent meal with a large serving but it was a bit disappointing.

3/5

The value at Charred is fair. They offer a classy, clean, atmosphere with good service. The prices are on the medium high side considering their food is decent but pretty mediocre.

Overall

3.5/5

Overall, Charred was very OK. They come across as one of those trendy burger & brew places that get by with higher prices because of their aesthetics. The food had good serving sizes and was pleasant but on the bland and dry side. All in all, it was a pleasant place to eat, but I wouldn’t give it a glowing recommendation.
