Brickhouse Diner is a mid-size diner in a shopping center in Virginia Beach, VA. They offer an extensive breakfast menu. I found the service and atmosphere to be very good. However, the food was mediocre.

This week I visited IJ Canns American Grill in Winchester, VA for a classic American dinner. They have a very spacious and comfortable, yet classy dining experience. The food is tasty, filling, and generously portioned. IJ Canns is a good spot to grab a nice meal with American staples.
Kennedy Center – Grounded Opera – Washington, DC
This week I attended the world premiere of Grounded at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Grounded was an avant-garde, modern opera about the military and its psychological impact on a female fighter/drone pilot. I found it was quite provocative and not for everyone. However, the Kennedy Center was spectacular and I can’t wait to return for another performance.

Bahama Breeze is a Caribbean food restaurant in Virginia Beach, VA. It is in Virginia Beach Town Center near Pembroke Mall. I found they offer a great value with wonderful food, service, and atmosphere at affordable prices.

I attended the debut of Across the Atlantic with Tara McNeill and Alexander Bernstein in Goodson Chapel Recital Hall at the Shenandoah Conservatory. The conservatory is part of Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA.

Mattie’s Frozen Custard in Winchester, VA is a wonderful place to grab dessert. It is a simple walk-up counter with friendly staff and some of the best ice cream in Winchester. They have rich creamy custard and offer unique well-crafted flavors.
Sumittra Thai – Frederick, MD
Sumittra Thai is a small Thai restaurant in downtown Frederick, MD. They have decent curry but it is on the expensive end. You may face long wait times and it can be a bit congested.

Kuma Moon in Blacksburg, VA is a small ramen shop near Virginia Tech. It offers a casual dining experience and attentive staff. They have tasty, filling food and large servings. Additionally, their presentation is top notch. The specialty drinks come with a unique take home cup.

Overall, Mount Vernon is a very nicely run historic site. It has a wide variety of things to see and learn about during your visit including, the home, grounds, and museum.

Sri Thai is tasty, upscale Thai and sushi restaurant in Atlanta, GA. Overall, I think it a good value, considering the delicious cuisine and classy atmosphere.
