What I Ordered
Fried Green Tomatoes
$8
The fried green tomatoes appetizer consists of large slices of green tomato fried in a delicious breading. Then they are topped with siracha ranch and a chow-chow, pepper relish. They fall apart a bit when you eat them but they are really delicious and flavorful. I found the acidity of the relish and tomato married well with the overall savoriness. Additionally, the texture combination of the crispy breading with the softer tomato and sauce was great!
Asian Persuasion Sandwich
$12
The Asian Persuasion Chicken Sandwich is a huge Korean fusion sandwich. It has fried chicken breast with kimchi, pickled onion, Siracha ranch, and a house Korean inspired sauce. Very messy! Overall, it is a very hearty, hefty sandwich packed with flavor.
Pimento Mac & Cheese Side
$4
The Pimento Mac & Cheese Side was my favorite piece of the already delicious meal. It was the perfect combination of cheeses and seasonings creating an amazing depth of flavor. In my opinion it was the perfect mac & cheese texture with perfectly cooked noodles and ooey gooey cheese.
Overall Food
The food at Buttermilk and Honey was fantastic! The menu is simple, offering fresh takes on southern classics with a focus on fried chicken sandwiches. All the food was wonderfully seasoned, perfectly cooked, and very filling.
Service
There is a limited service experience at Buttermilk and Honey but the interactions I did have were great. You order you food and pay at Kiosks when you walk in the store. The only time you interact with the staff is when your order is called and you go pick it up at the counter. Additionally, you throw away your own trash and put dishes in a designated area when you are done. It is similar to the customer experience at Panera. The kitchen staff were incredibly friendly and kind and appeared to be very positive and happy.

Overall Atmosphere
The atmosphere of Buttermilk and Honey is very causal, similar to a Chipotle or Panera. It is a modern industrial feel with open lofty ceilings and massive windows. You can see the exposed original historic architecture such as ornate moldings and a chandelier which adds a very cool contrast. The dining area is very open and has as many tables as they could fit without being congested. There is a neon Instagram selfie wall in the back for people to take photos at. Overall, it is a very trendy casual storefront.
Location
Buttermilk and Honey is located in downtown Richmond, VA. They are positioned on a corner in close proximity to the Dominion Energy Theater. There are many other shops, restaurants, and entertainment options within walking distance. There is not very convenient parking available. You have to park in one of the garages a few blocks away.
