What I Ordered
French Toast Combo
$15
I ordered the French toast combo with the croissant French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage links and home fries. I found the eggs were OK but they were on more wet than I like. The sausages were very good. They were, large, rustic, sweet sausages, not your average cheap sausages. The home fries were nicely seasoned red potatoes. However, I found their texture lacking. They were mushy and would have been much better crispy. Moreover, the croissant French toast was sweet and buttery. But, I did notice, because of the delicate nature of the pastry, it got soggy really quickly from the syrup, ruining the texture. The taste was good but the texture left much to be desired. I think their normal thick cut French toast would be the best of both worlds.

The service was very good at Brickhouse Diner. They were very friendly, nice, and professional. They were happy to offer suggestions and brought the food out efficiently.

Value for money
Brickhouse Diner is an OK value for your money. The serving sizes are fair and the prices are reasonable. The food quality was pretty mediocre though. It does offer a local alternative to chain like Ihop, and offers good service and a nicer dining experience.
Overall
Overall, I thought Brickhouse Diner was an OK place to have breakfast in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The food was nicely seasoned and had decent flavor but the textures were off pretty much across the board. They did have very good service and a nice dining experience. They pricing and serving sizes are fair. It would be a decent local alternative to an inexpensive chain breakfast restaurant, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go.
I also feel their breakfast is rather over-rated, but their chicken salad and pasta salad was pretty good !
