Table bread was offered complimentary with the meal. It came out warm and fresh. It is a simple white French bread. I thought it was very good warm with the butter. The bread had a nice crust and was soft and spongey inside.
Garden Salad

The garden salad is available as an add on to the entrees. I was surprised how huge it was for a side salad! The salad included mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, chopped dates, craisins, and almonds. Also, the house dressing is a champaign vinaigrette. I though the garden salad was a nice light salad with a lot of sweet elements. Next time, I think I would choose to add goat cheese because it would pair well with the dressing and dried fruit.
Jambalaya Pasta

I tried the Jambalaya Pasta for my main course. It was delicious, but I would not call it Jambalaya. The dish consisted of onions, peppers, chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage in a rich creamy tomato sauce over penne pasta. It is listed as spicy but it is not spicy at all. The sauce is very tasty and well-seasoned. It reminded me of a vodka sauce. Also, the serving size is quite large as well and included a lot of protein. However, jambalaya normally is a rice dish and much spicier and more heavily seasoned, so I would not call it a Jambalaya.
Cucumber Mint Mojito

IJ Canns offers a variety of mojito flavor choices. I tried the cucumber mint mojito. The mojito consisted of rum, soda, sweetener, mint, and lime, with cucumber spears and mint leaves. I thought it was very refreshing light drink. Additionally, it was not overly sweet and offered a clean crisp taste.

Overall, I thought the dishes at IJ Canns were generously portioned and and had good flavor. They were simple but effective. The presentation was also good. Also, the menu offered many classic American dishes from steak, seafood and pasta to burgers and salads. I think IJ Canns would be a safe choice to have a nice meal for picky eaters and people looking for classic American Food.

The service at IJ Canns was very good. All of the servers were very professional and polite. They were attentive and checked back at a good interval. Also, the food was brought out accurately and quickly.

Most of the people at IJ Canns are families or couples on dates. There are some individuals that were seated at the bar.
Overall Atmosphere
IJ Canns is a very large open restaurant with high ceilings. It is quite clean and looks relatively new. The décor is simple but classy with a lot of stone, metal, leather, and earth tones. The tables are nicely spaced. Additionally, the patio outdoor seating is simple black metal chairs and tables under a roof. I would recommend sitting indoors for nicer occasions like celebrations or dates. Outdoors would be good for grabbing a drink with friends or lunch when the weather is favorable.

IJ Canns American Grille is in Winchester, VA in the Creekside Station shopping plaza. It is a relatively new shopping center that is safe and nicely designed. There is ample parking available. Also, there are many shops and restaurants within walking distance in the plaza. However, it is not close to any hotels, entertainment, or downtown.
