What I Ordered

Chicken Tostones

3/5

$12.49

The chicken tostones appetizer was composed of fried plantain cake chips topped with chicken, cheese, and pico de gallo. They reminded me of eating loaded nachos. I found the plantain cakes were tasty but somewhat dry. The dish may have benefited from a sauce and possibly sour cream.

Blackened Mahi Tacos

4.5/5

$12.99

The blackened Mahi Taco dinner consisted of two mahi fish tacos and a side. I chose to have fried plantains as the side. The plantains were alright. They are pretty sweet and soft. The fish in each taco was a single large blackened fillet. It was perfectly cooked and high quality fish. The seasoning added a bit of salt and spice. You taste the blackened seasoning more than the fish itself. The fish was topped with an aioli sauce and a nice slaw of cabbage, tomato, cilantro, and citrus. Also, a serving of guacamole came on the side. Overall, I found the mahi taco to be a delicious, well-balanced bite. I would recommend them!

The Bahamarita is an extravagant frozen margarita. It consists of tequila with a wide variety of fruit flavors: strawberry, mango, and kiwi melon. It is served with a spiked cactus juice shot on the side. The server suggested pouring the cactus shot in the drink as well, so that is what I did. It is served in a very tall but narrow glass with citrus slices on top. I found this to be a very enjoyable drink. The top layer tasted similar to a limeade slushy and became more fruity and tropical as it went down. The Bahamarita was tasty and not strong, so it was more like a dessert. It was slushy, fruity, and fun.

They were perfectly cooked, offered a flavor packed bite, and were very well balanced between, savory, spice, acidity and a great variety of textures. I would definitely recommend the Blackened Mahi Tacos.

Service

The server was extremely kind and friendly. She had many wonderful and detailed recommendations and was happy to help. All of the food was brought out quickly and correctly. Our server checked back the perfect amount throughout the meal. When checking out you pay at a little kiosk on your table similar to Olive Garden.

Bahama Breeze has a great design for almost any occasion. The front of the restaurant has an indoor-outdoor sports bar available. But past that there is a very large main dining room with a variety of booth and tables that could fit anything from small groups to large parties. Overall, it is a very large restaurant with tables that are nicely spaced apart and high ceilings. The design included elements of tropical décor to go with the Carribean theme, but it was not tacky, it was clean and classy. The atmosphere was airy, jovial, and comfortable. I found the design was so versatile that it could be a good fit for a causal family dinner, an outing with friends, or even a classier date.
